Nick Stanhope
In March 2004, Nick and his team of two other cyclists, a cameraman and support driver, arrived in Trafalgar Square having left Cape Town 6 month and 12 days earlier and having travelled 10,000 miles by bicycle, through 13 countries and over 2 continents. The team raised over 50,000 for Anti-Slavery International and made an awareness film for the cause. This was the largest of Nick's challenges for charity, which have included walking, cycling, running and swimming for different charities over the last 10 years.
Nick currently works for the volunteering charity TimeBank, in their youth programme, Young TimeBank. He has worked in the charity sector since leaving university in 2002, including work as a fundraiser, campaigner and volunteer for charities such as Anti-Slavery International and the children's disability charity Kids.
Nick also co-directs the not-for-profit organisation, There Is More, which runs awareness programmes in schools, colleges and universities and encourages students and young people to take a more active role in society as volunteers, campaigners, ethical consumers and informed citizens.
