Jane Wilson-Howarth
Jane Wilson-Howarth studied zoology as an undergraduate then took a master’s in parasitology from Oxford University before qualifying as a physician.
As a doctor, she spent 15 years working on various child survival projects in remote corners of Asia. She also worked as GP in Cambridgeshire for 15 years. She is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society, the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and the Royal Geographical Society.
As an authority on travel health who can say ‘diarrhoea’ in nine Asian languages, she has written extensively for The Independent, The Guardian and other national and international publications. She is the author of three travel health guides, including the bestselling How to Shit Around the World, as well as two travel books, a novel and a series of wildlife adventures for children.
