Jane Wilson-Howarth

Jane Wilson-Howarth studied zoology as an undergraduate then took a master’s in parasitology from Oxford University before qualifying as a physician.
Her medical credentials allowed her to spend 20 years working on various child survival projects in remote corners of Asia. She also worked as GP in Cambridge for 15 years and with refugees. She has diplomas in child health and is a fellow of the faculty of travel medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, giving her more letters after her name than in it.
She is an authority on travel health and has written extensively for The Independent, The Guardian and other national and international publications. She is the author of three travel health guides, including the bestselling How to Shit Around the World, as well as two travel books, a novel and a series of wildlife adventures for children.
